Dog Obedience Classes
All dogs must be up-to-date on all vaccinations to
take any of our dog obedience classes. Be a responsible pet owner.
Vaccinate and spay or neuter your pets.
We teach 3 different methods of Dog Obedience. You can choose the
Stanly County Family YMCA Group Dog Obedience, Private Owner Lessons,
or Personal Trainer Obedience. The description of each method is as
follows:
Group Dog Obedience
Our
next class will be in the Fall of 2008.

Our
Group Beginner Obedience is the least
expensive and best way to train your dog. Classes are taught
at the Stanly County YMCA Pavilion.

Applications
will be available at the
YMCA front desk Group Beginner I Dog Obedience Class
Offered each Tuesday from 6:30pm - 7:15pm.
We recommend Beginner I for all first time students with a dog
6 months old and older. Each student will be taught how to teach
their dog the basic obedience commands - heel, sit, down, stay and
come. We always teach the importance of responsible pet ownership
in all our classes as well.
Group Beginner
II Dog Obedience Class
Offered each Tuesday from 7:15pm - 8pm
Group Beginner II Dog Obedience
is a more advance class for students who have taken Beginner I and
have successfully taught their dogs the commands- Heel, Sit, Down,
Stay, and Come.
Canine Good Citizen testing is available
after completing this class for students wishing to obtain a Canine
Good Citizen Award for their dog.
Private Owner Lessons
Private Owner Lessons are
for dogs that need a little extra help learning basic beginner obedience
commands, such as heel, sit, down, stay and come. These lessons
are taught outdoors at the Kendall Valley Kennels facility.
If you are interested in joining one of these classes, please call
the Kendall Valley Kennels office during business hours at 704-982-0322.
Personal Trainer Lessons
Personal Trainer Lessons
are our least recommended choice of training methods and the most
expensive. We will board and train your dog in our facility. We
will teach your dog the basic skills they will need to be a well-mannered
pet. (Heel, sit, down, stay and come)
This method is not recommended, because most dogs fall back into
their old bad behaviors after returning home. This occurs because
the owners were not taught the correct way to discipline their pets.
If you are interested in a personal trainer for your dog, please
call Kendall
Valley Kennels office during business hours at 704-982-0322.
Other Choices
Dog obedience is also taught at the Winston Salem Dog
Training Club in Winston Salem, NC http://www.piedmontcommunities.us/go/wsdog
