Choosing a Dog Trainer

When you start checking around for someone to help you train your dog, make sure they are qualified for the job. Ask questions like, how many years of training has the trainer had? How many dogs has the trainer qualified for AKC Canine Good Citizens Awards? What kind of Volunteer Work does the trainer do with their dogs? Does the Trainer have any Certified Therapy Dogs? Has the trainer worked in AKC dog training classes, for how many years?

Only ask a qualified trainer to train your dog. Anyone can take your money. We want to help you train your dog the right way.

Kendall Valley Kennels
Dog Obedience Classes
Classes are taught at the Stanly County YMCA Pavilion.

Next Class Starts March 30th
Applications will be available at the YMCA front desk
704-982-1916

Class is Offered each Tuesday
11am OR 6:30pm

We recommend Beginner I for all first time students with a dog 6 months old and older. Each student will be taught how to teach their dog the basic obedience commands - heel, sit, down, stay and come. We always teach the importance of responsible pet ownership in all our classes as well.

Most of the problems that dogs have come from lack of socialization. This class is taught in a group setting so that we can give your dog the social skills it needs to be a well mannered canine.

OUR DOG TRAINER

It takes years of hard work and dedication to become a Qualified Dog Obedience Trainer.  We are very proud that our dog trainer started training dogs in 1982. She is an American Kennel Club, Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. She is a Member of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of America and Blue Ridge Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club.  She has shown, bred and raised dogs for AKC conformation and obedience rings. She has done therapy dog training with the Delta Society Pet Partners Program and has been a leader for Main Street United Methodist Church's Veterinary Explorer Post. She has trained several of her own dogs to receive AKC Canine Good Citizens Awards, has trained 2 therapy dogs. She volunteers at nursing home with her therapy dog, and has been attending dog obedience classes at the Winston Salem Dog Training Classes in her spare time since 1998.
